FAQ

What would you say to someone who has never tried therapy?

Ask yourself: is what you’re doing right now working?

  • Do you have peace?

  • Do you have healthy relationships and boundaries?

  • Can you fall asleep without your mind racing?

  • Do you feel in control of your marriage, parenting, or work?

If the answer is yes, you may not need therapy.
But if you feel stuck or unsure of your next step, that’s when therapy can help.

People I work with often say, “It benefited my son,” “my marriage improved,” or “work feels manageable again.”

A healthier you affects more than just you—it touches families, workplaces, and communities.
A healthy you builds a healthy us.

What should I expect during my first therapy session?
In your first session, we’ll talk about what’s bringing you in and what you hope to get out of therapy. There’s no pressure to tell your life story all at once. It’s a conversation, not an interrogation. My job is to listen, ask helpful questions, and get a sense of how I can help you.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Ask yourself if what you’re doing now is working. Do you feel peace? Do you have healthy relationships and boundaries? If you’re feeling stuck, unsure, or overwhelmed, therapy can give you a space to reset and find direction.
How long does therapy usually take?
It depends on your goals. Some people come for a few sessions to work through a specific challenge. Others stay longer to work through deeper patterns or life transitions. We’ll regularly check in to see what’s helpful and adjust accordingly.
Do you offer virtual or in-person sessions?
Yes, I offer both virtual and in-person sessions, depending on what works best for you. Virtual sessions are available for anyone in Ontario, and in-person sessions can be scheduled anywhere in Southwestern Ontario.
What types of therapy do you use in your practice?
I use evidence-based approaches tailored to your needs. This can include cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, trauma-informed practices, and supportive counselling. I focus on practical strategies, meaningful conversation, and a supportive relationship.
Can therapy help with work-related stress or burnout?
Yes. I work with many people facing workplace stress, burnout, and career transitions. Therapy can help you set boundaries, process workplace dynamics, and get clearer on your next steps professionally and personally.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. What you share in therapy stays between us. There are rare legal exceptions (like safety concerns), but I will always explain confidentiality in our first session so you know your rights and protections.
How do I choose between individual, couples, or family therapy?
We’ll talk about your situation and what you’re hoping to achieve. Sometimes individual therapy is best, other times it helps to have your partner or family involved. I can help guide you to the best fit for your goals.
What are the signs I might benefit from therapy?
Common signs include feeling stuck, stressed, anxious, disconnected from people you care about, struggling with sleep, or facing big life transitions. Therapy can help you get unstuck, regain focus, and build healthier patterns.
